Power to Decide Announces Lori Adelman as Chief Executive Officer

Washington, D.C., Aug. 27, 2026 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Today, Power to Decide announces that Lori Adelman will join the organization as Chief Executive Officer, effective September 14, 2026. Adelman brings nearly two decades of experience advancing reproductive rights, gender justice, and health equity.

“Lori has spent her career leading organizations to be as resilient as the communities they serve, with deep experience across global development, media, and feminist philanthropy. She brings the expertise, strategy, and passion to lead Power to Decide into its next chapter. On behalf of the Board, I'm thrilled to welcome Lori to Power to Decide,” said Dr. Vincent Guilamo-Ramos, Chair of the Board at Power to Decide.

With a proven ability to translate sexual and reproductive health care into media and culture, Adelman joins Power to Decide at a moment when reaching people where they are with the information and care they need has never mattered more.

“Power to Decide connects people to real information and care, in ways that actually fit their lives — on their phones, in the clinic, and in the places that matter. Right now, access to information and care is under direct attack, and it isn’t getting easier to protect. I've dedicated my career to fighting for people's ability to achieve their reproductive well-being, and I'm honored to continue that fight with the exceptional team at Power to Decide,” said incoming CEO Lori Adelman.

Previously, Adelman served as the Executive Director of Planned Parenthood Global (PPG), leading staff across 10 countries. There she launched the Brave Fund, which provided flexible funding to reproductive health organizations in restrictive legislative environments, and stewarded the creation of Libera, an independent, Global South-led organization carrying forward PPG’s 53-year legacy. Earlier, as Vice President at Global Fund for Women, she directed external strategy during a tenure that included the fund's transformational gift from MacKenzie Scott. She previously held roles at Women Deliver, United Nations Foundation, and the International Women's Health Coalition.

A recognized voice in media and culture, Adelman led Feministing.com, one of the most widely read feminist platforms of its generation. She was also named to The Root 100 list as one of the most influential Black leaders shaping culture and policy. Adelman is a Harvard graduate and serves on multiple boards, including the Global Justice Center.

“On behalf of the board, we extend our deep gratitude to Rachel Fey and Marilyn Ayres for their steady leadership as Interim Co-CEOs during this transition,” said Dr. Vincent Guilamo-Ramos.

The Board and staff look forward to working alongside Adelman to deepen Power to Decide’s impact in the years ahead. For more information or to follow Power to Decide’s work, please visit powertodecide.org or find @powertodecide on Instagram, Facebook, and LinkedIn.
